Ramblings of a confused Indian

Munawar Faruqui does not need our sympathy, we need our anger.

“Born in a lower-middle-class family, Munawar lost their mother 15 years back, and father 2 years before. Father was paralyzed for 10 years, and Munawar being an elder was taking care of the family.

Munawar worked in a shop at Null Bazar, Mumbai. Worked in many places, including mail sorting in an advertisement agency.

He liked Anirban Dasgupta a comedian, and once found him doing a show at a mall. But could not afford the 500 rupees ticket. But found there is another ticket for INR 300, and found it is open mic.

Munawar connected with Anirban and got a lot of help from him. He performed on stage paying INR 300 for 4 minutes. People liked it, and then it was all a flow.

A local goon who is also the son of the local MLA of Bhopal ensured Munawar was arrested for a joke he never cracked, and the High Court ensured he was in jail for 37 days.

But he came out with faith in justice and society and started working. And wherever he performed, Munawar had a standing ovation. But now, the machinations of the politics got behind him, and now we have this.”

Munawar Faruqui will bounce back. He is a fighter, and he is just 31. He does not need our sympathy, we need our anger.

Munawar Faruqui has survived and thrived. Let us think of India. Will it?
